On the occasion of the Chinese-German Language Year, DAAD information center together with Goethe-Jinchuang SLZ Shanghai, Jesie-Goethe SLZ Nanjing and Robert Bosch Foundation held a karaoke-contest. 15 candidates came into the final which was held in Hamburg-House, Nr. 399 Bao Tun Road. The participants consisted of high school students and undergraduates.

In the first round, the participants had to translate the lyrics of a Chinese pop song, sing it out, record it as video and then send it to the judging panel. The quarterfinal and semifinal were judged by both the judging panel and the audience as well as the competitors had to draw lots for the song they were going to sing. They had only 15 minutes time to prepare. Despite all the difficulties, our candidates took up the challenge and gained the applause.

The first prize owner on that day was a 15-year-old girl from Shanghai. She has already learnt German for 5 years in the Foreign Language Middle School in Pudong. Her beautiful voice had already enchanted the judges in the former rounds. The first prize was the scholarship of a summer camp in German sponsored by DAAD. The second prize a one-day private training for career sponsored by Goethe-Jinchuang SLZ Shanghai won by Miss Gong from Jianxiong Vocational School. The winner of the third pice, Ji, came from SISU.
