German reading event: an American in the maze of German language

On the evening of June 8, 2013, Goethe-Jinchuang Language Centre Shanghai hosted a reading event with the American author David Bergmann.
During the event David Bergmann read several chapters of his piece《Take me to your umlauts----An American goes back to his German roots》. In addition, he also shared his experience in learning German with his own sense of humor. Ms. Huang (Xiaoling Huang) from Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai was the interpreter on that evening. Thanks to her outstanding performance those who were not so good at German also could understand the amusing anecdotes of the author and enjoyed the reading pretty well. David Bergmann passed a message on to the German learners through this reading: German is not only an effective language, but also a beautiful one with a great deal of humor.
